A few months ago I was at the height of stress when a friend urged me to go to the store and buy Epsom salt and take a bath immediately. She was so convincing I ran out mid conversation, picked up a bag of lavender Epsom salt and a bottle of wine. I came home, lit a candle, poured my salt into the bath and got comfortable over a Podcast. She told me she does this every other day to remove toxins and clear her mind. This is why you need an Epsom salt bath tonight.
Epsom salt contains magnesium and can help the body get rid of toxins responsible for exacerbating inflammation while also reducing swelling, stiffness, pain, muscle spasms, headaches, migraines, insomnia, anxiety and high blood pressure, to name a few. Since most of us are experiencing one, if not all of these, Epsom salt is the quickest and most affordable fix. Maybe it was the wine, but after I submerged my full body (face included) into the water I felt the weight of my problems melt away.
Spiritual bathing is a way for some to achieve a higher consciousness by washing away impurities. Since water is often considered to be sacred, using it to cleanse the spirit is suppose to wash away negative influences. Despite your beliefs a bath is great for calming the mind and removing toxins formed from negativity. I added a leisurely soak to my weekly routine and have never felt happier. It was necessary for the high level of stress I endure. I notice when I take a bath before bed it relaxes me and helps me sleep better.
Since Magnesium detoxifies the skin I also like to use a salt that has Himalayan as well to lock in moisture. This bath is my go-to recipe. You can purchase bath salt, bombs or charcoals to create a rejuvenating bath, or make a DIY bath from ingredients you have at home like: Ginger, grapefruit, apple cider vinegar, oatmeal, green tea and baking soda. Side note: Adding the right essential oil can combat the common cold.
Get out your candles, favorite books, iPad, Podcast — a bottle of water — and carve out twenty minutes to an hour to relax in a warm bath. Flush your bodies pores of toxins and heavy metals. Allow yourself to feel the effects of the magnesium on your body as you experience physical and mental relief.
